Prof. You Xiaohu  The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”



YOU Xiaohu: Professor of Southeast University, director of the National Key Laboratory of Mobile Communication and the dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering, the doctoral supervisor, distinguished professor of “Chang Jiang Scholars”, vice president of Jiangsu Association of Science and Technology, president of IEEE Nanjing Section, IEEE Fellow, associate editor of F Section for Science China Press, “National Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert”, first entrant of “National Trans-Century Young Experts” by the Ministry of Education, the winner of “Jiangsu Young Scientist Award” and the “National Labor Model” and the recipient of the “National Outstanding Youth Foundation” in 1998.

As the principal researcher, he undertakes over 10 projects for the National Nature Science Foundation, National “863” and Science and Technology Tackling Projects, making outstanding contributions to the development of the first testing system of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile communications. In 1999-2202, he worked as the general team leader of the National 3rd Generation Mobile Communication research, and the projects he charged were elected the “China Top 10 Technology Progress News in 2002” by the academicians of CAS and CAE; He put up with the multipath energy window structure CDMA access technology in an innovative way, which helped bring about 3 American Invention Patents and 11 National Invention Series Patents, as well as the 2nd prize of “National Scientific and Technologic Progress” in 2003, ranking 1st;in 2002-2006, he presided over the National “863” FuTure Key Research Plan and made important progress in developing the key technology of B3G mobile communication wireless network and transmission, which brings about wide international influence; in 2004-2008, he , as the chief leader, undertook the key projects for National Nature Science Foundation---“the Basic Theory and Technology Research on the Future Mobile Communication”, and made some world-leading fundamental research achievements in the field of distributed wireless network research; he presided and completed the “Broadband Mobile Communication Capacity Approximation Transmission Technology and Industrial Application”, the fruit of which won the first prize of National Technological Invention Award in 2011, ranking 1st; he has published almost 50 papers and theses in various international authoritative journals like IEEE Trans, and was elected the IEEE Fellow for his outstanding contributions in Mobile Communications in Nov, 2011; at present, he works as the team leader of the “National 863 Plan Broadband Network Technology” Special Expert Team, the member of information field and the Vice Chief Designer of 03 Key Special Projects for the National Long-and Middle Term Science and Technology Plan.
 
 
Prof. Hong Wei    The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”



HONG Wei: Professor of Southeast University, director of State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves and the vice dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering.
As the chief scientist and the project leader, he undertook many projects, such as the National 973 Projects, the projects from the National Nature Science Foundation---Innovation Group Science Foundation, the projects from National Outstanding Youth Foundation and Major National Science & Technology Specific Projects; he also published over 140 papers in international authoritative academic journals such as IEEE Transactions, 2 monographs, 48 granted national invention patents and his papers have been cited for over 2600 times; he once won the 4th prize of National Nature Science Award (the third winner in 1991), 1st prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award by the State Board of Education (1993/1995, winner of 2nd prize/1st prize), 1st (first winner in 2008)and 2nd (first winner in 2003) prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award, the 3rd China Youth Science and Technology Award and the 1st Jiangsu Young Scientist Award; he is also elected the IEEE Fellow for his contributions in the field of substrate integrated waveguide circuit and computational electromagnetic; he once worked as the associate editor of IEEE Trans. MTT and now as the vice director of Chinese Institute of Electronics---Microwave Branch and Antenna Branch, etc.
 
Prof. Wang Zhigong   The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”


WANG Zhigong: professor of Southeast University, the leader of circuit discipline and the director of Institute of RF- & OE-ICs; graduated from Ruhr University of Bochum as a doctor in 1990, working as the researcher at Germany Association of Fulanghuofu Institute for Applied Solid State Physics (Institut von Angewandte Festkörperphysik) from 1992 to 1997, worked at home as the returned experts supported by the State Council in 1997.
He is mainly working on the research of the radio frequency in digital radio, digital TV, mobile communication and internet access, microwave millimeter wave, optical communication with ultra high speed integrated circuit, the cross-disciplined “MENB” based on the target of rebuilding the function of damaged spinal cords as well as the acupuncture effects; by now, he has published more than 500 papers in the core journals and important conferences at home and abroad (including over 350 papers in SCI/EI), 2 monographs, 6 translation works and 7 textbooks with over 80,000 circulation; he got 25 invention patents in Germany, China and the world; in 1998, he got the “National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation”; in 1998-2004, he worked as the expert of the National 863 Plan Optical-electronic Panel; he was honored as the distinguished professor of “Chang Jiang Scholars” by the Ministry of Education in 2000; in 2001, he worked as the director of the Basic Electronic & Electrical Course Teaching Guidance Committee for the Higher Learning Institutions by the Ministry of Education; in 2009, he was hired as the member of the Electronic Science and Technology Group of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council Discipline Appraisal Group; in 2003, he won the “Achievement Award of the returning brains” jointly granted by the Ministry of Science &Technology and the Ministry of Education; in 2004, he was titled “National Top 10 Overseas Chinese Talents” jointly granted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council and the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; in 2006, he won the “National Labor Medal” and “National Teaching Morality Model”; in 2011, he was titled the “the Distinguished Expert by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese”; he is hired as the visiting professor for over 20 Chinese universities (Fudan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, etc.) and foreign universities (Carleton University in Canada and Edith Cowan University in Australia).
 
 
 
Prof. Cui Tiejun    The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”


CUI Tiejun: Professor of Southeast University, Vice Dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering, Vice director of the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves, Alexander von Humboldt Fellow of Karlsruhe University, research scientist of UIUC, once the associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Geo-science and Remote Sensing.
Prof. Cui Tiejun conducted systemic and in-depth research in the field of new type meta-materials theories, experiments, applications, computational electromagnetic science, fast algorithm, target properties and target recognition, etc.; he wrote one monograph (Springer, 2009); he published one paper in Science as the corresponding author, two papers in Nature Communications as the independent corresponding author and more than 160 papers in international physics, optics and IEEE journals, which are widely cited and reported by Nature News, MIT-Technology Review, Scientific America, New Scientist, Discovery, Physics World, influencing greatly in the world. His research works were awarded with “2010 China 10 Scientific Progress” and the 1st prize of Science and Technology Award by the Ministry of Education; he once won the “Young Scientist Award of U.I.R”, Jiangsu Labor Medal, Jiangsu Advanced Overseas Individual and “Contribution Award among Overseas Chinese”, etc.
 
 
Prof. HUANG Fengyi   The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”
 

HUANG Fengyi: professor of the School of Information Science and Engineering, doctoral supervisor, the distinguished professor of “Chang Jiang Scholar”.
Prof. Huang once worked as the Advisory Engineer of IBM Senior Semiconductor Technology Center (New York) and participated in the research and development of international leading BiCMOS process and the products. After returning back to China, he is mainly working on the design of radio frequency integrated circuit and the research on device model, and made great achievements in the field of CMOS passive device RF model parameter extraction, which was published in the most authoritative journal IEEE JSSC of the international integrated circuit as the first author---the 2nd paper in this journal with China mainland as the main supporting organization---also elected one of the Chinese Major Science & Technology Progress in 2006 by Science & Technology Review. He has undertaken many national major science and technology projects as well as the 863 Plan by Ministry of Science and Technology; his over 50 papers have been included by SCI and cited over 500 times on SCI; his paper with him as the first author are published in the international authoritative journals or international conferences, such as Phys. Rev. Lett. in the field of physics, IEEE IEDM---the authoritative annual meeting, IEEE J. of Solid State Circuits, EDL and Photonic Tech. Lett, etc. He wrote two chapters in the Thin Film Technology and Techniques Manuals published by the Institute of Physics Publishing; besides that, 9 of his American patents have been granted and many Chinese patents have been applied.
 
Prof. WU Ke   The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”



WU Ke: professor and the doctoral supervisor. Born in Liyang of Jiangsu on 9th, Dec, 1962, he graduated from Nanjing Institute of Technology (Southeast University now) with bachelor’s degree; He got the master and doctor degrees of Photoelectron and Microwaves in National Academy of Engineering of Grenoble University from Sept, 1984 to Oct, 1987; he worked as the researcher of Electronic and Computer Engineering Department in University of Victoria in Canada from 1988 to 1992; he now works as the professor of the Electronic Engineering Department in the Institute of Technology in Montreal University (belongs to the Montreal University) and the visiting professor of Canadian RF and Millimeter Wave Engineering; besides that, he is also the visiting professor and the short-term visiting professor for many universities in France, Sweden, Germany, America, Belgium, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries and regions; he is now the Honorary visiting professor for Southeast University as well as the Professor for the “Chang Jiang Scholars Program” Lecture; he was elected the academician of IEEE in 2001 and the academician of Canadian Academy of Engineering in March, 2002.
Prof. Wu is now working as the director of Canada National RF and Microwave Key Laboratory and the director of the world famous Poly-Grames Research Center. His major research directions are: hybrid and monolithic multilayer substrate integrated circuit and antenna; the new filed theory and design model used to solve the guided waves; traveling wave electric device and loaded Radio Over Fiber System; research and application of high frequency intelligent materials; research on space power combining of millimeter and quasi optical technique; multi-function software radar as well as the development and application of Wireless RF Receiver. Prof. Wu are awarded many times for his outstanding and pioneering achievements in the theory and technology of microwaves: in 200, he became the first winner of the world IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Young Engineer, Asia-Pacific Microwave Prize, U.I.R Young Scientist Award and Urgel-Archambault Award (the highest award in the field of engineering of French and Canadian Association for Science and Progress), etc; in 2004, Prof. Wu became the winner of Fessenden Award by IEEE Canada.
As the elected member of the Electromagnetic Association of MIT, sigma-Xi Honor Society and the U.I.R, he held many important posts in various international organizations and committees as well as the examining committees for the government research bodies in many countries worldwide, such as the editor of various IEEE academic journals and the member of Technology Committee for International Microwave Annual Meeting held by IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Committee. He now works as the chairman of IEEE MTTS/APS/LEOS (Montreal Joint Branch) and the director of the 7th area for IEEE MTT-S.
Prof. Wu boats 16 important inventions, especially the brand new concept of plane and the non-plane waveguide integrated-substrate integrated circuit first put up by him as well as the mixed model of field/circuit switching designed for the circuit. By far, he has published 380 papers, 10 books or the chapters in them. He has delivered over 120 special academic reports worldwide, including the special keynote report for many international conferences.
 
 

Prof. WANG Jiangzhou The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

WANG Jiangzhou, born in Nov, 1961, got his master’s (1985) and bachelor’s degree (1983) at Xidian University, the doctor’s degree at University of Ghent (Belgium) in 1990 as well as the post doctor’s degree at the University of California. He is the “Chang Jiang Scholar”, the Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong, the senior engineer of Rockwell International Corp and the editor board member of IEEE Transactions on Communications as well as the guest editor of IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. He has published over 40 papers on the international authoritative journal IEEE Transactions, and 2 English monographs in America--- Broadband Wireless Communications (USA, 6/2002) and Advances in 3G Enhanced Technologies for Wireless Communications (USA, 2/2002), the latter of which has been translated into Chinese.
 

Prof. DING Zhi   The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

DING Zhi, the distinguished professor of Southeast University National Key Laboratory of Mobile Communication, once worked as the associate professor of Auburn University and the University of Iowa as well as the Title Professor at the University of California, Davis. He was elected IEEE Fellow in Jan, 2003 and held a lot of posts such as the Session Chair for ICASSP and many other international conferences, the distinguished theme chair for IEEE ICASSP in 2005 and the Chairman of the Technical Committee for IEEE Globecom International Conference---one of the two annual meetings in Communication field in 2006. He has published over 100 papers on international academic authoritative journals, which have won the acclaims among the peers in the world. His team mainly research on the Signal Processing and Optimization of the Communication System. He had made a series of outstanding achievements in the field of signal processing and wireless mobile communication, which is of great importance for the research on mobile communication: he mainly studies the blind channel estimation and semi-blind channel estimation, the uniform framework of all technologies combined the optimized physical layer with regard to high speed data wireless communication system, MIMO pre-coding technology as well as the integrated design of the receiver and the ARQ retransmission, which helps to promote the research on the cross-layer design in the new generation wireless communication system. After coming to the Southeast University, he has successfully completed the 973 Projects as the project director, the scientific research of which has been sponsored by National Science Foundation, National Defense High-tech Project Bureau, Nortel Networks, Intel, NEC and Huawei Technology, etc.
 

Prof. HUANG Qiuting The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

Prof. Huang is working for the Swiss Fed Inst Tech-Zurich Switzerland (the famous university has produced over 20 Nobel Prize Winners; Einstein once studied and taught here; one of the famous cooperating universities of Southeast University in Europe) and as the director of the Integrated System Department for the School of Electronics and Information Technology.
Prof. Huang has always doing research on semi-conductor technology and the integrated circuits, including semiconductor devices, large scale digital circuit design, the mixed circuit design of A/D and D/A as well as the communication RF circuit design, etc. In 1997, the design team led by him realized the whole GSM RF Transceiver by using the CMOS Technology; in 2001, the team realized the 3G Mobile (3G, UMTS) RF Transceivers by using the CMOS Technology again. He has published over 140 papers and invited lectures on the international first-class journals and conferences; he was elected the IEEE Fellow for his excellent contributions in Communication Integrated Circuit in 2001; in 2003, he was granted “50 Anniversary Outstanding Paper Contribution Award” by IEEE ISSCC (during the 50 years from 1954 to 2003, his paper number ranked 3rd in Europe and 15th in the world among the nominees). He now works as the branch chairman of IEEE Solid Circuit Association of Swiss Zurich, Vice President of IEEE ISSCC and the Europe Standing Committee, member of Wireless Professional Group, the branch chairman of ESSCIRC and the member of the Technical Committee.
    Prof. Huang was hired as the visiting professor of Southeast University in 2003 and the Distinguished Visiting Professor of “Chang Jiang Scholar Programs” by the School of Information Science and Engineering in Southeast University.
 

Prof. WANG Xiaodong The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

WANG Xiaodong, the visiting professor of Southeast University “Chang Jiang Scholar Program” and the professor of Columbia University, got his doctor’s degree at Princeton University in 1998. In recent years, he has conducted wide and in-depth research on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing, and made a lot of fruitful achievements in multiuser communication, space time processing, Monte Carlo Signal Processing and the Genome Signals; he has published more than 500 papers on the international authoritative journals, edited or co-edited over 10 academic works; his monograph---Wireless Communication Systems: Advanced Techniques for Signal Reception---was published by Prentice Hall Publishing House in 2003; he won the CARREER Award by National Nature Science Foundation in1999, the Best Paper by IEEE Communication and Information Theory Association in 2001 and the Outstanding Paper Award by IEEE Communication Society in 2011; he once was the editing board member for IEEE Trans. Communications/Signal Processing/Information Theory and other international core journals. He was elected the IEEE Fellow for his outstanding academic contributions in Signal Processing and Communication fields as well as the ISI Highly-cited Author.
 

Prof. GAO Xiqi The Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

GAO Xiqi, Professor of Southeast University, Vice Director of National Key Laboratory of Mobile Communication and the member of academic board, got PhD in Southeast University in 1997, continued his research and studies at MIT with the support of Hua Ying Foundation from 1999 to 2000, pursued his research and studied at Darmstadt University of Technology with the support of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation from 2007 to 2008 and was sponsored by National Outstanding Youth Foundation. He holds a lot of posts: the editor board member of the international core journal IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, the editor board member of the international core journal IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, member of the Review Panel for National Nature Science Foundation, Vice President of IEEE Beijing Branch, and the director of Jiangsu Electronic Society/member of the Committee. Focusing on the mobile communication and signal processing & application, he has successively undertaken over 20 projects, such as the projects form National Nature Science Foundation, National 863 Plan, National 973 Plan, National Major Science Special Projects, International Cooperative Projects and the cooperative projects with enterprises, etc. He has got 35 granted invention patents overseas and published over 200 papers on the core journals and important academic conferences at home and abroad, among which 50 papers have been included into SCI (most published in the core journals of IEEE) and 175 papers included in EI, being cited over 1000 times by peer scholars (elected the Les Best Paper Award of IEEE Communication in 2011). He has won 3 Scientific and Technologic awards by the Ministry of Education and one 1st prize of National Technological Invention Awards.
