Undergraduates are admitted to the major of Information Engineer, while masters’ degree and PhD degree candidates to be enrolled may choose from the 5 sub-disciplines of “communication and information system”, “electromagnetic field and microwave technology”, “signal and information processing”, “electronic circuit and system” and “information security”.

 In its effort to cultivate high-quality and top-level talents, the School attaches great importance to the improvement of students’ comprehensive quality and innovation ability while pushing forward the teaching reform with disciplinary development and advancing the education level with scientific research. The “demonstration achievements of the teaching reform of radio engineering” won the special award while competing for the first national award for teaching achievements in 1989―the only special award for electronics-related disciplines―and later won the national award for teaching achievements for another four times in succession. In addition, the “digital signal processing” and “signal and system”, among others, are awarded as National Superior Courses; one teacher is awarded as National Famous Teacher, and another as Provincial Famous Teacher; and “Information Engineering” is selected among the brand majors of Jiangsu Province.
 

Over the last five years, as the teaching reform intensifies with the development of the teaching team, superior course and superior teaching materials, relevant majors have been awarded as national characteristic majors (ⅠandⅡ) among the first ones in National Cultivating Program of Outstanding Engineers; the two teaching reform achievements― “reform and development of electronic information curricula” and “reform and practice: integration of frontier technology into communication teaching”―have won the 1st prize of Teaching Achievements of Jiangsu Province. Case-based teaching with advanced research results integrated has effectively improved students’ innovation ability; for instance, undergraduate students have won Challenge Award and Sony Award in succession with their excellent performance; 1 dissertation has won National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations Award and 5 have won the Award Nomination for National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations; 7 have won Excellent Doctoral Dissertations Award of Jiangsu Province, and 7 masters’ theses have won Excellent Masters’ Theses Award of Jiangsu Province. The education quality of the School has improved remarkably, and achievements of its teaching form have been highly applauded and promoted among colleges and universities.

Satisfactory results have been achieved in the development of teaching materials, with many of them having won national or provincial awards.
